Kristin E. Scialabba, PhD currently serves as Vice Provost for Strategic Communication and Innovation.  In this role, she provides strategic leadership to communicate, implement and articulate the direction of a broad range of institutional initiatives, design integrated recommendations and position content/visibility in alignment with USD’s mission, vision and goals. She provides oversight of several university-wide administrative functions to develop opportunities, identify solutions, establish priorities and implement appropriate communication approaches to ensure that the university is well-positioned as a leader in higher education. She has also served as a faculty member in the USD Department of Communication Studies since 2008.

Areas of Interest

In her teaching, Scialabba focuses on the intersection of communication leadership, organizational communication, public interest and media literacy to highlight the connection between communication, market forces, institutional logic and ethics.  She also explores the multiple social contexts, global implications, and the overall impact of digital technology that influence the ways in which we think about political, social and economic issues.
