The purpose of our division is to advance full human flourishing by building a better university, church and world. We strive to do this by animating the Catholic dimensions of the university, including:
- The Catholic intellectual tradition (through faculty formation and programming)
- The Catholic spiritual tradition (through the celebration of Catholic liturgy, interfaith and ecumenical prayer experiences and other forms of ritual, as well as opportunities for reflection and spiritual growth)
- The Catholic moral/social tradition (through educational events and experiential learning opportunities)
Encouraging the integration of the University’s mission, vision, values and Catholic identity into university policies, procedures, protocols and other institutional structures.
Articulating the alignment between existing and emerging initiatives with the university’s history, Catholic identity, mission and core values.
Convening and facilitating conversation on what it means to be an engaged, contemporary Catholic university.
Creating opportunities for the personal integration of USD’s mission and Catholic character.
Fostering a Catholic imagination among our faculty, staff and students and a strong, inclusive Catholic culture across the institution.
Articulating and advocating for an understanding of the purpose of Catholic higher education as necessarily including a concern for making the world more just, humane and sustainable.
