USD Board of Trustees Member Virginia Nelson ’79 (JD) & USD Law Alumna Audrey Surridge ’17 (JD) Named SDBJ 2024 Top Nonprofit Board Leaders

SAN DIEGO (June 5, 2024) – Congratulations to University of San Diego (USD) Board of Trustees Member Virginia Nelson ‘79 (JD), and USD Law alumna Audrey Surridge ‘17 (JD) for being named 2024 Top Nonprofit Board Leaders of Influence by the San Diego Business Journal.

Nelson serves as the vice chair on the USD Board of Trustees and is an Emeritus member of USD School of Law’s Board of Visitors. She is an active supporter of multiple scholarships and initiatives across the USD campus, as well as many other nonprofit organizations focused on access to justice, collective philanthropy and legal education in the San Diego community. Nelson, is also an Adjunct Professor at USD School of Law and is very proud to be featured as a Board Leader of Influence with her former student, Audrey Surridge. 

Surridge, an attorney at Fisher Phillips LLP, is the current president of Lawyers Club, the largest affinity bar organization in San Diego. A nonprofit dedicated to advancing the status of women in the law and society, Lawyers Club develops and mentors female leaders in the San Diego community and promotes pay equity and workplace civility through its various initiatives, practical programming, and events.
