The University of San Diego’s Knauss School of Business is excited to announce a newly updated Master’s of Business Administration (MBA) curriculum to begin in Fall 2022. Building on the core strengths of the program, the new MBA curriculum is designed to be more rigorous, relevant, streamlined and personalized than ever.

Changes to the MBA curriculum include:

  • Streamlined to 44 units. The total credit hours required to graduate have been reduced from 53 units to 44 units, saving students over $14,000 in tuition costs. The 44 units are made up of 30 core units and 14 elective units.
  • New waivers for part-time MBA. Part-time MBA students will be considered to waive certain core classes based on professional experience, prior coursework and assessments, further reducing the total cost of attendance. This will also allow students to tailor the program to match their goals.
  • Revised concentrations. Optional concentrations will now focus on six, highly in-demand business function areas: Business Analytics; Entrepreneurship and Innovation; Finance; Organizational Leadership; Marketing; and Supply Chain Management.
  • New consulting projects. Students will participate in expanded experiential learning opportunities, including Social Impact and International Consulting projects. These projects are designed to increase graduates’ preparedness to create an immediate impact in their careers.
  • New focus on emerging trends. A new flex class will provide students with a grasp of emerging technologies and trends impacting the future of business, such as artificial intelligence, block chain and more. Additionally, a capstone course will focus on the impact and relevance of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

The curriculum will continue to emphasize business stewardship, ethical business and international business in new ways. All classes will continue to be taught by renowned Knauss School of Business faculty, on one of the most beautiful campuses in the nation. And starting this fall, classes will be taught in the brand new Knauss Center for Business Education — a 120,000-sq.-ft. state-of-the-art facility with cutting edge technology and collaboration spaces.

“In a post-pandemic world, we know the MBA will be key to transforming organizations,” said Rangapriya (Priya) Kannan, PhD, associate dean of faculty and accreditation and professor of strategic management, innovation and entrepreneurship. “We are extremely excited to help educate the next generation of socially responsible business leaders through our newly redesigned MBA curriculum and cutting-edge facility.”
