CAI’s Amy Harfeld, National Policy Advocate Quoted in U.S. Senator’s Statement on New Foster Care Bill
SAN DIEGO (December 13, 2021) – University of San Diego (USD) School of Law Children’s Advocacy Institute’s (CAI) Amy Harfeld, National Policy Advocate and Senior Staff Attorney’s was quoted by U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV) in her press release announcing her introduction of a bipartisan bill to help foster and homeless youth pursue higher education.
The bill entitled Helping Foster and Homeless Youth Achieve Act is co-sponsored with Senator Rob Portman (R-OH) and would improve access to educational opportunities by requiring that higher education institutions receiving federal assistance waive application fees for foster and homeless youth.
“College opens doors and opportunities,” said Amy C. Harfeld, National Policy Directory for CAI. “Let’s open the first one for homeless and foster youth by waiving burdensome application fees to send these promising students on their way."
