Meet Your Librarians - Hugh Burkhart

Copley Library's Department of Research and Instruction Engagement is proud to present Hugh Burkhart, Coordinator of Instruction and Undergraduate Learning at Copley Library.

Professor Burkhart's role encompasses outreach to undergraduate programs to provide instruction on information literacy and the library's resources and services for incoming USD undergraduates.

He also supports Copley's undergraduate subject librarians as they teach courses and instructional sessions across their academic disciplines. He is also the subject librarian for English, Communication, French, Theater, and Film Studies.

Professor Burkhart's research interests revolve around information literacy and library instruction in higher education. He is currently researching the way information literacy is taught and assessed in undergraduate general education. He also writes and publishes short fiction.

Professor Burkhart supports student research at Copley Library's Research Assistant desk, in one-on-one consultations, and in the classroom. He helps students navigate the research process and become better researchers and evaluators of information. He most enjoys learning from students himself!
