Class of 2026: Katelyn Chu | How a Global Past Ignited a Purpose-Driven Future

By Jessica Applonie

Meet upcoming graduate, Katelyn Chu '26, marketing and international business major, law and ethics minor.

Born and raised in Hong Kong before moving to San Diego for high school, her experience attending international schools instilled in her a deep respect for diverse cultures and a strong desire to create a positive global impact on people, animals and the environment.

Defined by her lifelong passion for social and environmental advocacy, Chu actively sought out ways to merge her business acumen with ethical impact. Zeroing in on purpose-driven work, Chu has had two separate internships, one with the San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance and another with a B-Corp, Fervor and Zeal, who donates 50% of all proceeds to non-profits and artists.

Katelyn Chu leaves fellow students with a timeless piece of advice: fully embrace every opportunity and experience the university has to offer, and remember to have fun along the way.
