MS in Humanitarian Action Alumna Recognized for Connecting Global Dialogue to Local Action
Catherine Greenberg, a Kroc School MSHA alumna, has been recognized as a March 2026 San Diego Weekly Standout for her work bridging global awareness and civic leadership in San Diego.
Greenberg serves as Vice President of the San Diego World Affairs Council and Founder and Executive Director of Bright Light Volunteers, a global service-learning organization she founded in 2012. Through the World Affairs Council, she connects San Diego's civic, academic, and business communities to pressing international issues. Through Bright Light Volunteers, she designs structured, ethically grounded programs for schools, universities, and community groups that integrate education, cultural exchange, and leadership development into one cohesive experience.
Her model treats host communities as partners, not recipients, and emphasizes student reflection and responsibility alongside hands-on global engagement.
