The Office of Undergraduate Research is very excited to announce the 2025-26 Outstanding Undergraduate Research Mentor Award (OURMA) recipients! This year, we received an unprecedented number of nominations: 31 nominations from the College of Arts and Sciences, one nomination from the Shiley-Marcos School of Engineering, and one nomination from the Knauss School of Business. While all nominees were exemplary, the selected award winners’ dedication to mentoring the next generation of research leaders set them apart from the rest.

The 2025-26 OURMA award recipients are:

  • Dr. Chad Kishimoto (Department of Physics and Biophysics), Glenn D. White, Jr. '78 Faculty Research Awardee
  • Dr. Joan Schellinger (Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry), OURMA Senior Faculty Awardee
  • Dr. Rebekah Wanic (Department of Psychological Sciences), OURMA Junior Faculty Awardee

We will officially recognize these awardees and all of the nominees by name at the OURMA reception during USD’s Research Month in April. Please watch for that event announcement and join us! Congratulations on all of your hard work and dedication to mentoring undergraduate research students!
