At USD, Guacamole is an application that allows users to connect to a computer session remotely. Imagine walking into a Computer Lab and sitting down at a PC or a Mac — Guacamole is the virtual version. Guacamole allows users to access computers that have specialty software, with the appropriate hardware to run the installed software. Only one user can be logged into a computer at time, just like a physical lab computer.
Support
If you have a need for specific software that is available in any of the in-person labs on campus please reach out to your professor to submit a request for the software title. We will include the software in Guacamole hosted computers if the software is supported by ITS.
Remember — using Guacamole is just like using a lab computer. If you are idle for more than 30 minutes, you will be logged out, and any files saved to the computer will be lost. Make sure to save your files to Google Drive or another cloud storage solution.
