The Energy Law and Policy Clinic's learning objectives help students develop practical legal skills, including:
- Legal research and analysis
- Legal writing and editing
- Client relations
- Legal ethics, confidentiality, and attorney client privilege
- Project collaboration
- Oral presentation
In addition, students also learn the existing statutory authority and regulatory structure of the topic of study; develop and apply their legal training to resolve the issues presented by the clinic’s client through the drafting, editing, and presenting of a high-quality work product (e.g., legal memo); and, depending on the project, learn how to analyze, draft, and propose legislation.
