Associate Director, Centers for Public Interest Law

Katherine Gonzalez (Katie) serves as the Associate Director of the Centers for Public Interest Law (CPIL) at the University of San Diego School of Law. In this role, she collaborates with CPIL leadership to guide and execute key administrative, academic support, and research and policy advocacy initiatives across CPIL’s three centers and institutes: the Consumer Protection Policy Center (CPPC), the Children’s Advocacy Institute (CAI), and the Energy Policy Initiatives Center (EPIC).

Ms. Gonzalez oversees editing, publishing, and strategic communications for these centers, ensuring the editorial quality, accuracy, and impact of journal articles, reports, and other publications. She manages CPIL’s external communications, crafting engaging and strategically aligned content for audiences through social media, blogs, and websites. Additionally, she provides complex paralegal services that support CPIL’s litigation efforts.

A 1998 graduate of USD, Ms. Gonzalez holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and a Graduate Certificate in Paralegal Studies with a focus on General Litigation and Intellectual Property. With over 20 years of experience in complex class action litigation, she has been recognized for her contributions to the legal field. In 2007, she was honored as San Diego Paralegal of the Year by the San Diego Daily Transcript. She remains an active member of the USD Paralegal Alumni Association and the San Diego Paralegal Association.
