Biography

Emily Sanchez

Emily Sanchez is a Legal Fellow at the University of San Diego School of Law’s Energy Policy Initiatives Center (EPIC). Her work focuses on legislative and regulatory analysis of California energy policy, including assessing the implications of proposed laws and regulatory actions for renewable energy development, compliance strategies, and long-term policy planning. She also conducts research on local regulatory frameworks, including municipal ordinances and climate action plans, to evaluate feasibility and alignment with climate and energy goals.


Prior to joining EPIC, Sanchez worked in the Energy Law and Policy Clinic at USD, where she conducted research and drafted memoranda on renewable hydrogen regulation, electric generation resource development, and municipal energy governance for clients such as the California Energy Commission and the California Department of Water Resources. She also gained litigation experience through internships in a civil clinic and private practice. Sanchez earned her Juris Doctor from the University of San Diego School of Law, with a concentration in Environmental and Energy Law. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with a minor in History, cum laude, from Villanova University.
