Finding God in the Every Day: A Retreat Over Six Months with Spiritual Direction

This retreat takes place within the routines of your ordinary life - no need to travel to a retreat center or pack a bag. Instead, you will be paired with a student spiritual director for one session per month from November through April (six sessions total over six months).
What is Spiritual Direction?
Spiritual direction is for anyone longing for a deeper, more personal relationship with God. Rooted in the Christian tradition, spiritual direction is a ministry of sacred listening. It is not confession, counseling, psychological therapy, nor advice-giving. Rather, it is a compassionate, confidential partnership where a director accompanies you in paying attention to the subtle movements of the Holy Spirit in your daily life. Meeting with a spiritual director can help deepen your prayer and cultivate the inner freedom needed for prudential discernment.
Who are the directors?
You will be directed by a student in the Guided by the Heart: Formation for the Ministry of Spiritual Accompaniment program with the Center for Christian Spirituality. These student directors have completed foundational theological study and significant spiritual formation.
To support their growth and ensure the highest quality of care, our students receive ongoing supervision from qualified spiritual direction supervisors. While student directors may discuss their own experience in supervision, the details of your personal story and identity remain strictly confidential. All names and identifying information are changed to protect the identity of the retreatant.
Sessions take place in various locations within San Diego and may also be available online.
No cost to participate. This retreat is offered as a gift to the community and a key component of the students' practical formation.
