Women's and Gender Studies at USD prepares the next generation of global citizens to rise above. To challenge the norms of society and then better them.

Learning outcomes

  1. Describe and critically reflect on how they and others have experienced privilege and oppression in relation to sex, gender or sexuality.
  2. Analyze, through various modes of inquiry, how concepts of "gender," "sex" or "sexuality" have been socially constructed through history or in contemporary contexts.
  3. Describe struggles against sexism and heterosexism and patterns of resistance that dismantle hierarchies of sex, genders and sexualities. 

  4. Examine the intersections of gender, sex and sexuality with other categories such as race, ethnicity, socio-economic class, age and ability at local, national and/or global levels.
