Joseph Babcock came to USD in 2019 from the University of California San Diego where he was a lecturer in the college writing program. He earned his MFA in Creative Writing from the University of Montana in 2014 and taught writing and literature for several years at universities in Vietnam. Babcock writes mostly creative nonfiction and his work has appeared in The New York Times and The Daily Beast and been supported by grants from The Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting and the Ragdale Foundation. He is currently at work on a book project about artificial intelligence and the future of writing.
