Dr. Cameron Parker joined the faculty at the University of San Diego in 2003. Dr. Parker does research in cooperative game theory and voting systems. His Ph.D. focused on mathematical statistics related to unit root testing and econometrics.
Scholarly Work
Dr. Parker’s work studies measures of power in generalized versions of simple voting games. He extends common power measures such as Banzahf and Shapely-Shubik to games with multi-levels of support. In the world of simple voting games, he studies alternate ways of measuring hierarchies. His work has been published in Theory and Decision, Games and Economic Behavior, the Journal of Econometrics, and the Journal of Mathematical Economics.
Areas of Interest
Dr. Parker teaches a wide range of mathematics courses including Calculus, Probability, Statistics, Real Analysis, Number Theory, Topology, Linear Algebra, and Abstract Algebra. Every other year, he participates in USD’s Study Abroad Program in London, teaching a course he designed called “Cryptography and War: How Mathematicians Saved Democracy.” This course explores the intersections of math and history from ancient times to the modern world, and combines upper-division math with field trips to London’s historic World War II sites. ![]()
