World-class chemists start here
Chemistry at USD prepares the next generation of chemists to rise above. To learn the science of chemistry and then practice it.
Learning outcomes
- Foundational Knowledge. Demonstrate knowledge of the five principle disciplines: biochemistry, analytical, organic, inorganic and physical chemistry.
- Technical Skills. Demonstrate technical proficiency in modern laboratory skills, including instrumental and computational methods and proper laboratory safety protocols.
- Integration. Integrate chemical concepts and ideas with laboratory experiences and real-world scenarios.
- Scientific Method. Apply the scientific method to questions in chemistry: formulate hypotheses, propose and perform experiments, collect data, compile and interpret results, and draw reasonable and logical conclusions.
- Scientific Communication. Communicate scientific information effectively in both written and oral form.
