AI@USD Learning Labs

Learning Labs is a series of face to face training sessions led by Austin Choi-Fitzpatrick and is available to faculty and administration. The series includes training on how to use generative AI tools for teaching and learning, research and operations.

Introduction to AI Literacy

Build your confidence in using generative AI responsibly with our 20-minute, self-paced learning module designed for USD faculty, staff and students. This training introduces the fundamentals of AI literacy — the knowledge, skills and mindset needed to use tools like Google Gemini thoughtfully and effectively.

Through guided demonstrations, real-world scenarios and hands-on practice, you'll learn how generative AI works, how to critically evaluate AI-generated outputs, and how to apply ethical guidelines and best practices in academic and professional settings.

Access the Introduction to AI Literacy course on Canvas and get started right away. Upon successful completion, participants will receive a digital badge to showcase their new AI literacy skills.

Assigning the AI Literacy Module to Your Students

Give your students a strong foundation in generative AI by adding this short, 20-minute, self-paced module to your course. The AI@USD: Introduction to AI Literacy module teaches how generative AI works, how to critically evaluate AI-generated content, and how to use AI ethically and responsibly. Students earn a USD-issued digital badge upon completion, and faculty can easily integrate the module through Canvas Commons or by sharing the self-enrollment link.
