The University of San Diego is a contemporary Catholic university grounded in the liberal arts and the Catholic Intellectual Tradition (CIT). As such, we view education as the formation of the whole person (cura personalis). The Working Group on AI in the Teaching and Learning Environment is charged with conducting a comprehensive analysis of how Artificial Intelligence (AI), aligns with strategic plan, Lighting the Way to 2030, can be integrated into our academic life in a way that enhances human dignity, fosters social justice, and promotes academic excellence.

While AI offers unprecedented opportunities for efficiency and innovation, our approach must be guided by wisdom, not just utility. This group will define the boundaries of "appropriate use" by balancing technological advancement with the human-centric values of a Catholic education.
