If you will be attending the University of San Diego on a visa not sponsored by the University (for example: Fulbright students; individuals on a U.S. work visa; etc.), you are required to submit proof of your nonimmigrant status in iTorero, the university’s immigration portal, in order to confirm your enrollment eligibility.
It is your responsibility to notify the Office of Graduate Admission that you have completed your iTorero requirements. Once you have successfully completed all of your iTorero requirements, please email the Office of Graduate Admission at grads@sandiego.edu. Once you have emailed notification that you have completed your iTorero requirements, the Office of Graduate Admission will review your documentation, and if sufficient, will confirm your enrollment eligibility.
Spring 2026
iTorero opens on October 10, 2025 for Spring 2026 students to begin submitting their proof of nonimmigrant status requirements.
January 5, 2026
is the deadline for Spring 2026 students to complete their proof of status requirements.
Fall 2026
iTorero opens on January 12, 2026 for Fall 2026 students to begin submitting their proof of nonimmigrant status requirements.
July 31, 2026
is the deadline for Fall 2026 students to complete their proof of status requirements.
Accessing iTorero to Submit Your Proof of Nonimmigrant Status Requirements
You will log into iTorero using your USDOne username and password (the same login credentials you use to access the MySanDiego portal and your USD student email). To access iTorero:
- Visit itorero.sandiego.edu/ and click on the blue "Login" button to log in with your USDOne credentials.
- You will be taken to the Services Home page. On this page, click on the in-progress Request titled "Graduate Immigration Verification/Pre-Arrival..."
- On the next page, expand the Step 1 option. You must complete the Step 1 e-forms in order to confirm your current nonimmigrant status. Please read through the Step 1 e-form instructions below before you start submitting them, so that you know what will be required of you.
Important: Do not attempt to submit documentation in iTorero prior to the date that iTorero opens for the term you will be starting your program (see dates listed above for when iTorero opens for each term). If you submit documents prior to when iTorero opens for your term, you will need to re-submit it after iTorero has opened for your start term.
Passport Information
You will upload a color scan of your passport and confirm your citizenship information.
Verification of Immigration Status
When asked, “Will you be studying at USD under the F-1 visa?”, please respond “No” and click Submit.
Proof of Funding
When asked, “Will you be studying at USD under the F-1 visa?”, please respond “No” and click Submit.
You will then be asked to complete additional eforms located on the iTorero Services homepage under “Other Visa Type”.

Cost of Attendance
- You will be asked if you are under a scholarship that supports your pursuit of a degree program at USD. Please answer this question accordingly.
Emergency Contact Information
- You will be asked to enter your emergency contact. This person may be a parent, relative, friend, roommate, etc., in your home country or in the U.S. Please answer accordingly and click Submit.
Local U.S. Address and Contact Information
- You will be asked to provide another (non-USD) email address in the case of an emergency as well as your local physical address.
International Student Agreement
- Please carefully review this section to understand the terms and conditions concerning your visa status. By checking the box and clicking Submit, you are electronically signing and agreeing to our International Student Agreement.
Visa Stamp Information and Upload
- You will be asked if you have your visa stamp that you will use to study at USD. Please respond “Yes” and upload a copy of your visa stamp. Next, you will be asked to enter additional information that is found on your visa stamp.
- After you upload your visa stamp, the last question in this section will ask if you are under an H-1B visa. Please answer this question accordingly and upload your Letter of Permission, if required.
- Individuals with employer-sponsored, employment-related visa status in the U.S. are required to obtain and upload an Employer Letter of Permission to Enroll. This letter must be on company letterhead, come from the Human Resources department or your supervisory manager, and include the following:
- your current status with the employer (ie, job title, professional standing)
- confirmation of the type of work visa you hold
- confirmation of the expiration date on your work visa
- a clear statement that your employer grants you permission to enroll in your graduate program (program name must be specified) at the University of San Diego while continuing to work full-time for them. This statement must also include the start date of classes for the first semester you plan to enroll
- Individuals with employer-sponsored, employment-related visa status in the U.S. are required to obtain and upload an Employer Letter of Permission to Enroll. This letter must be on company letterhead, come from the Human Resources department or your supervisory manager, and include the following:
