Once your application is complete (all materials received), we forward it on to your program’s admissions committee for review. Programs have different application review schedules. Please contact the program you are applying to for information on when you can expect to hear back on a decision.
If the name on your supporting materials does not match the name on your application, we will not be able to pair them. Please be sure to include your alternate name(s) in the "biographic information" section of the online application. If you’ve already submitted the online application, please email grads@sandiego.edu to let us know.
Waivers are granted on a one-by-one basis for a specific program and term. Obtaining a waiver is not guaranteed under any circumstances. To request a waiver, email your program with your request and reasoning for why you think you should be given a waiver. For more information, review the International Applicant checklist for more information.
We will not accept expired TOEFL or IELTs scores. Your score must be no more than two years old from the time you submit your online application. Please be aware that the University reserves the right to request that an applicant submit new TOEFL or IELTS scores if they defer their admission or roll their application to a semester later than the term for which they originally applied, and as a result, render their originally-submitted TOEFL or IELTS score expired.
If you earned a degree from an institution outside the United States, you are required to submit a course-by-course evaluation from World Education Services, Inc. (WES). The WES evaluation will let us know if your three-year bachelor’s degree meets our requirements.
If you earned a degree from an institution outside the United States, you are required to submit an official course-by-course international transcript evaluation (also called an official course-by-course foreign credential evaluation). Please review the International Applicant checklist for more information on where to order your evaluation from.
Standardized tests (excluding the TOEFL and IELTS) must have been taken no more than five years before your anticipated start semester.

Within a few days of submitting your online application, you’ll receive an email from our office titled “Track Your USD Application” containing login information for your My.SanDiego.edu applicant portal. In this portal, you can review your personal application checklist to make sure we’ve received all your application materials.
