Professor Kelly served as articles editor of the Michigan Law
Review, clerked on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal
Circuit and practiced law in Chicago before joining the faculty
in 1988. He teaches and writes in the areas of contracts, remedies
and family law. Among his publications are “The Rightful Position
in ‘Wrongful Life’ Actions,” Hastings Law Journal; “The
Phantom Reliance Interest in Contract Damages,” Seattle University
Law Review; two works on mitigation of damages; a remedies
casebook; and a study guide for contracts. His recent work
focuses on punitive damages and economic losses in tort.
