United States Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia and USD School of Law Professor Michael D. Ramsey will team-teach the Separation of Powers course, which explores the provisions of the U.S. Constitution that keep governmental power in check as they were understood by its framers and interpreted by the U.S. Supreme Court.

Bruce S. Jenkins Jurist-in-Residence Program
The Bruce S. Jenkins Jurist-in-Residence Program was established in 2007 to honor United States Senior District Judge, District of Utah Bruce S. Jenkins. The program brings top judiciary to the University of San Diego School of Law to teach courses about important contemporary judicial issues.

The Honorable Bruce S. JenkinsJudge Jenkins is known for his two extensive careers, first within state politics as a Utah State Senator and then within the judiciary as a United States district judge. Appointed a member of the Utah State Senate and twice re-elected by wide margins, he served as minority leader and was elected president of the Utah State Senate at age 37. Jenkins authored and sponsored legislation dealing with the management of public monies, securities regulation, civil rights and public employee retirement and is credited for modernizing the executive branch of the Utah state government. In 1965, he was appointed as a bankruptcy judge for the United States District Court, District of Utah. In 1978, Jenkins was nominated as United States district judge by President Jimmy Carter, confirmed by the United States Senate and served as chief judge of the court from 1984 until 1993. In 1994, he assumed his current status as United States Senior District Judge. For more information about the Bruce S.
