Judge Stephen Swift of the United States Tax Court

The San Diego Chapter of the Young Tax Lawyers of the California State Bar Taxation Section meets each month at 7:45 a.m. in the Faculty Reading Room at the University of San Diego School of Law. All those interested, including tax students and tax attorneys, are encouraged to attend and join. Refreshments and various breakfast items are provided.

Judge Stephen Swift of the United States Tax Court

The Young Tax Lawyers Group is very pleased to announce that Judge Stephen Swift of the United States Tax Court will be speaking at our April meeting.

Before joining the Tax Court, Judge Swift was an attorney for the U.S. Department of Justice, Tax Division, an assistant U.S. attorney in the Tax Division, and the vice president and senior tax counsel for Bank of America N.T. and S.A. Judge Swift was appointed by President Reagan to the United States Tax Court in 1983. He then served as senior judge on recall performing judicial duties until he was reappointed by President Clinton in 2000.

Judge Swift will be discussing the path he took in becoming a judge and offer guidance to those interested in this appealing career.
