Rainbow Educators Application

Applications are now being accepted for Rainbow Educators (R.E.s) for the 2008-2009 academic year.  The application process consists of two parts:

  1. A 20-30 minute interview by members of the Rainbow Educator Management Team (REMT).
  2. An on-line application consisting of five questions.

To apply, please select an interview time from the drop down menu below (interviews will take place during September 9-12, 2008) and respond to the five questions below.  Applications are due by September 8, 2008.  Applicants are expected to be available to participate in the Fall training which will take place on September 26-27, 2008.  Feel free to e-mail any questions that you might have to remt@sandiego.edu.

To complete your application, please respond to the each of the following five questions.

 

1. How did you learn about the Rainbow Educator Program and what made you interested in becoming an R.E.?  Feel free to share information about your own personal experiences, so that we can get to know you better.

2. Discuss your association to the LGBT community and ways in which you stay informed about issues relevant to the community.
3. What past experience do you have presenting to groups?  How comfortable are you presenting to groups and speaking in public?  How well do you think on your feet?
4. How comfortable are you discussing LGBT issues in an environment in which the audience may not be completely welcoming?  Feel free to share information about how you have handled situations involving conflict in the past.
5. Being an RE requires a significant commitment of time and energy.  Please share with us other on and off campus activities that you have done (e.g., work, community service, fraternity/sorority involvement, etc.).
