Master of Arts in Teaching in History/Social Science

This degree program offers candidates the opportunity to develope both pedagogical and content knowledge. Candidates take half their coursework within SOLES and the other half through history and social science departments within the College of Arts and Sciences. The ideal applicant for this program has a strong background in history/ social science and experience teaching in the secondary history/ social science classroom.

Core Seminar (Take as first history course) (3)
Teaching Seminar (3)
Public History Seminar (3)
 
IV. Electives in History (6 units)
6 units of graduate history courses approved by advidor in School of Leadership and Education Sciences
MAT students may not take HIST 563 - Thesis Writing

V. Satisfactory performance on Action research Project and presentation
 
Minimum of 3.00 GPA in each component above.
Satisfactory completion of Action Research project.

Not more than six units of upper-division undergraduate courses may be used in this program.
