Doctoral Programs

Leadership Studies (Ph.D.)
The University of San Diego's Ph.D. program in Leadership Studies seeks to educate "practitioner-scholars" to make significant contributions in a variety of organizational settings in education, nonprofit organizations, public administration, the military, religion, psychology, and health care. The program also educates a number of students preparing to be interdisciplinary scholars of leadership; after graduation, these students normally become university professors or work as policy analysts, evaluators, or consultants.

USD-SDSU Joint Doctoral Program (Ed.D.)
The School of Leadership and Education Sciences at the University of San Diego (USD) and the College of Education at San Diego State University (SDSU) established a joint doctoral program in education (Ed.D.) that began in Fall, 1999. The partnership is a collaborative program of specialized study anchored by a common core of courses and by the study of current models of research and evaluation. Students take courses at USD and SDSU. Therefore, they have the opportunity to work with faculty from both institutions. Candidates will be prepared for leadership roles in education through an in-depth study of theory, research and practice in the following areas of concentration: Educational Technology and Literacy.
