Action Research

The SOLES Action Research website is intended as a resource for practitioners, students, researchers, and theorists interested in exploring the role that action research plays in improving educational practice and community life in general. The site includes information, ideas, examples, and working documents on action research related to education and community life. These resources are designed to support the practice of action research and to provide a forum for advancing the development of theory and social innovations linked to the use of action research.

Welcome to the 2011-2012 Action Research pages. We have a very active group of action research practitioners, scholars, teachers, and enthusiasts here at SOLES, and these pages are where we share our work. As you will see, the work continues to evolve, so we hope you will visit these pages often. We also hope you will take a few moments to provide us with feedback regarding what you see here. Is it interesting? What in particular did you find that is useful to you? What would you like to find that is not here yet? How might we improve the presentation of the content? Feedback can be sent to lrowell@sandiego.edu.

For 2011-2012, three significant developments are taking place:

  • SOLES now has an Action Research Office. Come by and visit when you are on campus. The Action Research Office is located in MRH 122B. SOLES graduate student Aneesha Bhogal is the coordinator of operations for the office.
  • This year’s Action Research Conference will take place in April, not May. (See the Action Research Conference link above for more information.)
  • A new SOLES Action Research Committee will guide the action research initiative taking place across SOLES’ departments. The founding committee members include Lonnie Rowell (School Counseling), Cheryl Getz (Leadership studies), Noriyuki Inoue (Learning & Teaching), Heather Lattimer (Learning & Teaching), and Mary McDonald (Leadership Studies).
