Public Service Leadership

The Public Service Leadership Initiative is a project designed to increase outreach to young professionals and students in public service. The fall semester offers a "Leadership Weekend" for young professionals and the spring semester offers an “Insiders Seminar” primarily for students. Both are designed to provide insights on career planning and success strategies. Several breakfasts link small groups of students and a key political person. Events are conducted both on campus and off campus. Additionally the initiative brings subject matter experts and notable public officials to campus to dialogue with students about the opportunities and challenges of public service. Led by Dr. Ron Kirkemo, the project is an initiative of the Department of Leadership Studies.
The Public Service Leadership is a proud sponsor of the Japan Society of San Diego and Tijuana. The mission of the Japan Society of San Diego and Tijuana (JSSDT) is to promote goodwill and advance business, civic, educational, and cultural interchange and understanding between the people of Japan, San Diego, and Tijuana. Founded in 1996, the JSSDT is a 501(c)(3) non-profit membership organization of individuals and corporations with a focus on tri-national relations between Japan, the United States, and Mexico. The JSSDT is one of approximately forty affiliates of the National Association of Japan-America Societies headquartered in Washington, DC.
