10:40-11:55 — Aspiration into Action: Exploring Your Leadership Role, Path and Purpose
You will work in you learning team, which is a small group designed to foster an intimate and fruitful learning environment.  Each team will have the support of an Aspiration Architect who can provide consultation to help each woman better understand the leadership process and where they want to go on their leadership journey. During this first session, you will set the foundation for your leadership journey and identify what you hope to accomplish in your life and on your leadership journey.

11:55-12:20 — To Do or Not To Do-Understanding Leadership as a Verb (Room 102: Executive Classroom)
Leadership is more than a positional title; it requires thoughtfulness and action. How do you think about, understand and practice leadership? How is leadership different than management? What is “women’s leadership” and why is it important? In this session, you will explore concepts of leadership and get a common framework for thinking about leadership as a process, giving us a common “leadership language.” We will discuss the unique elements that women experience with leadership, and highlight the essential skills necessary for effective leadership. You will be challenged to abandon you old thoughts about leadership in the quest for a more productive and sustainable leadership practice.

12:20-1:20 — Lunch and Thought Leadership Conversations (Outside on the West Plaza)

Let’s Talk! Why is it so difficult to have some conversations? Why do we shy away from conversations that would help us grow as individuals and connect as a community? In this working session, we give you permission to have an open, honest, and engaging dialogue about topics unique to women and leadership. Participants will select a “topic table” and let the opinions and ideas flow. Don’t worry, if you conversation stalls, each table will have “thought question prompts” to guide and stimulate the group.

Some Topics include:

  • 50 Shades of Something! Why are so many women addicted to Fifty Shades of Grey? What need does this story meet for women?

  • Has feminism has become a history lesson? If so what does that mean for us as we connect across generations and attempt to continue the work of equality and discrimination?

  • Motherhood and the family. What role does this play in women’s achievement? How do we reconcile the “you can’t have it all” idea? Where does the maternal capacity fit in women’s experience with leadership and how can we own that power and use it to our advantage? What do we think of notable C-Suite female leaders, like Marissa Meyer and Sheryl Sandberg?

  • Bullying- Not Just a Girl Problem. What is the impact of bullying on women? Why are women often the meanest to each other? When women get bullied by men in the work place, are we willing to stand up for one another?
