Partnership With The Hong Kong University Family Institute

In 2008, the Marital and Family Therapy Program at the University of San Diego (USD) and the Hong Kong University Family Institute (HKU) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to create an educational linkage. The purpose of the MOU is to establish an international educational partnership by involving students and faculty between the two schools in international learning experiences. We are very proud of our new partnership and look forward to many shared teaching, learning, and research activities.

The first educational exchange between USD and HKU took place in January 2008. Two faculty and 16 students from USD traveled to Hong Kong for the for the Inaugural Symposium for the Consortium of Institutes on Family in the Asian Region (CIFA). Regional and overseas family practitioners and researchers from multiple professions met to share their clinical innovations and research in a rich cross-cultural context. This very unique occasion provided valuable opportunities for professional consultations, transdisciplinary training as well as deliberation on policy issues in promoting the well-being of all families.
