Upperclassmen Housing Areas

Campus apartments are available for sophomore, junior, and senior undergraduate students. The Presidio Terrace Apartments are available for graduate and law students. All apartments have wireless internet access and are cable ready with satellite TV hookups. Some transfer students may be assigned to the Missions A complex which offers suite-style living. Several faculty and Resident Ministers reside in the campus apartments along with area Community Directors or Community Coordinators, and Resident Assistants. The apartments are very popular and are filled quickly each year by continuing students. Each resident has a chest of drawers, desk, desk chair, plus all units have a sofa and chair, dining table and chairs, and kitchens that include stoves and refrigerators. No small appliances, dishes, pans or utensils are provided. The room rates for all the apartment complexes include the cost of utilities.


 

Alcalá Vista ApartmentsALCALA VISTA
APARTMENTS

The Alcalá Vista Apartments include 192 apartments, and are located adjacent to the Sports Center Complex (gym, locker rooms, weight room, pool, and tennis courts). The majority of these units have two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a kitchen, and a living room. Each of these two-bedroom units accommodates four residents. The three-story units are clustered around three courtyards and feature the Spanish Renaissance architecture that is used throughout the main campus. A reception desk, laundry facilities, study rooms, wide-screen TV, lounge, and staff offices are located on the first floor of Palomar Hall.

Palomar Desk
The Palomar Desk is the center of activity for the Alcalá Vista apartments. The front desk staff encodes room key cards, takes messages, gives information, provides vacuums and other sundries for residents.. You can also check out pool table equipment, movies and games for the Palomar Lounge. If you need to mail any items, outgoing mail is picked up twice a day Monday through Friday.  You can reach the Palomar Front Desk at extension 3700.

Palomar Lounge
The lounge is located next to the Palomar desk. It is a great room for studying or hanging out. The Lounge facilities include a billiards table, computers and a large screen television. Plenty of seats and couches are available, as well as work tables for projects, studying, or just hanging out with your friends. The lounge is also a popular location for resident assistant programs that are open to all of our resident students.

RA Office
The Resident Assistant Office is where you can find Resident Assistants working on programming efforts and performing their on-duty hours. Contact the RA Office by dialing extension 3762. The office is located in the Palomar lounge.

Community Director Office
The Community Director's Office is where you can meet with the Community Director to discuss questions, concerns, ideas, or problems. You may reach the Community Director by dialing extension 3800 . The office is located in the Palomar lounge.

Assistant Dean and Assistant Director of Residential Life Offices
The Assistant Dean and Assistant Director of Residential Life offices are located in the Office of Residential Life in the Mission Crossroads Building. They can be reached at extension 4777.


 


Manchester VillageMANCHESTER VILLAGE
Continuous occupancy (including Christmas Break, Intersession, and Spring Break) is an option at no additional cost in Manchester Village. The design of Manchester Village responds to student requests for apartments with single occupancy bedrooms. The apartments have either four single bedrooms or two double bedrooms with shared bathrooms, living and dining areas and full-size kitchens. Each bedroom is wired for phone and cable television. Manchester Village includes study rooms, a laundry room, a vending area and two levels of underground parking. Wisdom for the Real World Residential Learning Community is housed in Manchester Village. This program engages students to explore the practical application of six core components in their daily life; academic, spiritual, career/vocation, community, wellness, and life skills. This exploration is designed to prepare students for the transition from college to the "real world".

San Antonio de 
Padua SAN ANTONIO
DE PADUA

The San Antonio de Padua Apartments offer 41 units consisting of studios for two residents and large one-bedroom apartments for three residents. A laundry room, study/computer lounge and recreation room are located on the ground level of this three-story building. Each unit is entered from an interior hallway and some have balcony views of Tecolote Canyon and Mission Bay . A swimming pool is located at the south end of the building.

SAN BUENAVENTURA

One of the most exciting developments at USD was the August, 2007 opening of San Buenaventura – a new residence hall in the Valley.

Boasting the latest amenities in residential life, the new 92,300 square-foot hall features apartments with wireless Internet access, ceiling fans, and a full kitchen with a refrigerator, stove, and microwave. The building has many perks to offer residents. These include large bedrooms, living rooms, and very large bathrooms. Each of the building's four floors has a study room. There are also three multipurpose rooms – two for seminars, meetings or social gatherings and one fully equipped entertainment room with plasma TV, air hockey table and pool table. Additionally, there are elevators and even a putting green! The residence hall houses 88 single bedrooms, 76 double bedrooms, and 12 apartments for USD live-in staff and faculty.

On of the biggest draws to the San Buenaventura residence hall is its location directly adjacent to the new Mission Café and Fitness Center . For more information on the various amenities of the center, please see http://www.sandiego.edu/mfc/ .

 



University Terrace 
Apartments UNIVERSITY TERRACE APARTMENTS
The University Terrace Apartments offer a mature living environment for upperclass undergraduate students. The University Ministry RLC L.I.F.T. (Living in Faith Together) is also located in this housing area. Continuous occupancy (including Christmas Break, Intersession and Spring Break) is an option at no additional expense. Each of the 38 University Terrace Apartments has two bedrooms and one or two bathrooms for either three or four residents. The apartments are furnished with sofa and chair, dining table and chairs, desk, chest of drawers, refrigerator and stove plus extra long 80 in. bunkable twin beds. Most of these units have large sun decks with views of Mission Bay and Point Loma. The complex also has two laundry rooms and a recreation room. Phone service, cable TV, and internet access are University provided.

MISSIONS A (coed) -Transfer Students
The Missions A complex offers suite-style living. One of the buildings is designated as a community for transfer students only. This supportive living environment provides peer support and special unique programs designed for the transfer student. This three-story building houses is coed by floor and has eight residents in single or double rooms on each floor. The suites are fully carpeted and have a furnished living room area. There are two bathrooms with showers, toilets and sinks in each suite. These bathrooms must be cleaned by the residents. Each resident has an extra-long (80") twin bed, chest of drawers, and desk with chair. Each room has wireless internet, and cable television access. These units are located along the edge of Tecolote Canyon and some have views of Mission Bay. A Community Director and nine Resident Assistants reside in Missions A. The University Alcohol Policy designates Missions A as a no alcohol living area regardless of age or class status. Missions A is located steps away from the new Mission Café and Fitness Center .
