Special Interest Communities

Residential Life is pleased to offer Special Interest Communities for Upper-class Students, including rising sophomores, juniors and seniors. Double rooms only are available when choosing one of these options. For 2013-2014, the following themed housing will be available.

Honors:

The Upper-class Honors Special Interest Community provides upper-class students enrolled in the Honors Program at the University of San Diego the opportunity to live in a diverse learning community of scholars, and further develop relationships with Honors Program faculty. The community is housed in spacious apartments within SanBuenaventura (San Buen). The facility offers outstanding community and study spaces for students to interact and is adjacent to the Mission Café and Rec Center.

Space is limited and the interest form is due on at 4:00 p.m. on March 8, 2013, along with a completed on-campus housing application and prepayment.

Sustainability:

SAVE THE PALOMAR POLAR BEAR! The sustainability theme community for second year students is housed in the apartment style spaces in the Alcala Vistas complex. Residents engage in sustainable living, receive reports of energy consumption by individual units and have access to blink®electric vehicle chargers. Residents will engage in environmental awareness activities sponsored by USD faculty and professional staff, share in opportunities for student lead initiatives, and are challenged as Changemaker students in reducing their carbon footprint with incentives provided by the USD offices of Sustainability and Residential Life.

Space is limited and the interest form is due on at 4:00 p.m. on March 8, 2013, along with a completed on-campus housing application and prepayment.

L.I.F.T- Living in Faith Together:

LIFT offers sophomore students the opportunity to Living In Faith together. An intentional faith community, LIFT is perfect for those who wish to explore the big questions of life: What do I believe? Where and when do I experience God most powerfully? Where does my deep gladness meet the world’s great needs? What is the meaning of my life and what should I do with it?

The LIFT community is based on the values of spirituality, community and service. Those who live in this community will receive the encouragement and support of others committed to growing in their relationship with God, with one another, and with their true self. Members of LIFT are encouraged to participate in weekly faith sharing nights; to engage in University Ministry sponsored Masses, retreats, and community service projects; and to live out their faith in all aspects of their life at the University of San Diego. http://www.sandiego.edu/um/.

Space is limited and the interest form is due on at 4:00 p.m. on March 8, 2013, along with a completed on-campus housing application and prepayment.
