Dr. Peter Gratton (DePaul University, Chicago, 2006) is assistant professor of philosophy. His main research interests are in 20th and 21st century Continental philosophy (especially as they relate to political theory), Africana philosophy, and theories of race and gender. This year, Dr. Gratton will teach courses in Introduction to Philosophy, Philosophy and Literature, and contemporary continental philosophy. His co-edited volume, Traversing the Imaginary (Northwestern University Press, 2007) just appeared, and Dr. Gratton is also the book review editor for Philosophia Africana. He is completing work on his manuscript of sovereignty and the rise of nationalism (most especially on a decent title) and is beginning another project on the politics and metaphysics of violence.
