"Occupation Dreamland"

Wednesday, April 26, 2006

7 p.m.
IPJ Institute

The one hour eighteen minute film follows a squad from the U.S. Army around Falluja, Iraq for six weeks during the Winter of 2004.

It ends just as the Army was replaced by the Marines, and the situation in Falluja decayed from a mid-level counterinsurgency phase into an open military campaign.  The movie offers a glimpse into the lives of the six soldiers involved.

Filmmakers Garrett Scott and Ian Olds were given access to all operations of the Army's 82nd Airborne. The result is a revealing, sometimes surprising look at Army life, operations and the complexity of American war in the 21st century. The film will be followed by a panel discussion featuring USD faculty and military personnel.

Cookies and coffee will complete the evening.

**This Film is Rated R for violence and graphic language. It may not be suitable for youth under the age of 17.
