Dr. Uzi Rabi speaks on “Israel: the Prospects for Peace

Many see the latest developments in the Middle East as a window of opportunities for bridging gaps between Israelis and Palestinians. Dr. Rabi’s talk focuses on the character and conduct of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, but mainly assesses the post-Arafat era. It discusses possible paths and the hurdles to be overcome before we can regard the Palestinian-Israeli conflict as having come to an end.

Dr. Uzi Rabi, professor of Middle Eastern and African history at Tel Aviv University, specializes in the modern history of the Gulf states and is a Research Fellow at the Moshe Dayan Center for Middle Eastern and African Studies. He is currently a visiting professor at the Lipinsky Institute for Judaic Studies at San Diego State University. During his visit, Professor Rabi is teaching courses on Arab-Israeli Relations and making guest lecture appearances, such as this one, throughout San Diego.

Professor Rabi received his Ph.D. from Tel Aviv University in 1999 from the Department of Middle Eastern History. He is the author of numerous publications on Middle Eastern Affairs, focusing mainly on the political and socioeconomic developments of states in the Persian Gulf and the Arabian Peninsula. He has also written several articles on oil and politics in the Middle East.
