The Third Annual International Women’s Day Celebration Breakfast at the Joan B. Kroc Institute for Peace & Justice, was co-convened with Voices of Women and the Women’s Equity Council, United Nations Association-San Diego. San Diego delegates reported on the 51st annual session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) at the United Nations in New York.
Over 240 participants joined the celebration and heard updates on the situation of girls worldwide. Speakers included Dee Aker, interim director of the IPJ, and Erika Lopez, program officer for the IPJ’s Women PeaceMakers program, along with other experts, such as Laura Taylor, IPJ program officer, AND Anne Hoiberg of the United Nations Association, and San Diego high school students Tuyaymya Osuna of High Tech High International and Jacqueline Lampert of The Charter School of San Diego.
