New Student Resident Move-In
8 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.
This one's pretty self-explanatory. We've set aside the majority of the day to allow you to get all of your stuff into your room. You will have time to get settled before any of our big events begin. When you arrive we will have T-Squad members assist you in unloading your car and carrying everything to your residence hall room. You'll be unpacked and having fun before you know it!

Lunch is available for new students and their family members. New students eat for free with their nametag and meal card.

Palomar Desk
Check-in for commuter students who have pre-registered to stay in the Alcalá Vista Apartments will be held at the Palomar Desk. Commuter Students should have pre-paid a $50 housing fee. Check-out is Monday, Aug. 29, 8-9 a.m. at the Palomar Desk. To register for this housing option, you must mail or fax this form by Friday, August 5, 2011.

New Student and Family BBQ

Join your parents, friends, and family members for a BBQ dinner. All residents of Maher Hall will be served at the Plaza de San Diego (in the front of Maher Hall) at 4:30 p.m.. All Residents of Camino and Founders will be served at Plaza de San Diego at 5:30 p.m. All residents of Missions A and Commuter Students will be served at Eagen Plaza (outside the Jenny Craig Pavilion) at 4:30 p.m. All residents of Missions B will be served at Eagen Plaza at 5:30 p.m. New students do not need to purchase tickets, as this is the first meal of Torero Days. Your nametag/meal card will serve as your ticket. Tickets for family members and friends that have not been pre-purchased may be purchased at the Hahn University Center Box Office throughout the day. Tickets are $25 for adults and $15 for children ages 3-12 (cash or check only).

Parents, family members, and sponsors of international students have the opportunity to meet new and returning students and gather information about available resources. Family members, sponsors and new students are all welcome.

Your program begins! A welcome from President Lyons and an overview of your Torero Days. Use the ticket on the back of your nametag to find your seat and small group. As this event is for new students only, parents and family members are invited to a dessert reception held in the Degheri Alumni Center hosted by Parent Relations.

This is a great opportunity for new commuter students to become oriented with the Commuter Commons and experience the fun that occurs during the semester.

Buses leave from the front of the University Center
It's off-campus and it's going to be tons of fun! You'll have the opportunity to check out one of San Diego's most well-known amusement parks, and meet some of your classmates who may be experiencing it for the first time. Not only will you be able to enjoy all the attractions and shows, but USD will have it's own private area for dinner, dessert, music, and even a surprise visit by some very special guests. Buses begin boarding at 4 p.m. Don’t be late, so you can be one of the first into the park. Order your tickets before orientation for $30. If you did not pre-purchase tickets, tickets will be available at the UC Box Office for $35.

Making the Most of Your Financial Aid at USD!

Mandatory Meeting for International Students with F-1 Visa.

An informational meeting for international students in which you will learn about immigration regulations and other US laws to make sure that your stay in the US is not only pleasant but also safe and lawful. Orientation also includes information about health insurance, immunization requirements, how to navigate through everyday life in the U.S., and a discussion on programs and events offered by the OISS. In addition, the orientation will cover health care related issues common among international students, including a summary of the functions of the Student Health Center, a brief overview of the mechanisms of the U.S. healthcare system, how health insurance works and how to access your USD health insurance plan.
Preceptorial Meeting (Attendance Required)

This is your opportunity to meet your Preceptor, ask questions about the preceptorial program and for your Preceptor to describe his/her expectations of you. Please refer to your nametag for your meeting room number. Your professor might treat this as your first formal class meeting, so be sure to bring your supplies.

In this meeting you will receive valuable information regarding the preceptorial program and student life tips for success from your Preceptorial Assistant. Please refer to your nametag for room number.

This important program introduces new students to the academic mission of the University of San Diego. You will get to know faculty preceptors, USD’s commitment to the mission, and take the academic integrity pledge. Out of State Student Ice Cream Social

Students coming from outside of California are invited to attend an ice cream social hosted by the Out-of-State Student Council members from their home region. Seven ice cream socials will be taking place simultaneously across campus - one for each region represented on the Council. This is a great opportunity for students to meet their regional council members as well as other new freshmen from their region.
