Literature search tips and other resources

We get a lot of mail from readers who visit our page because they are writing a paper or preparing  a presentation about a theorist. Hopefully the Nursing Theory Page will provide some information for you, but your best resources are the library and CINAHL.

Margaret (Peg) Allen, MLS-AHIP has provided some resources to help you:

  1. Searching Bibliographic Databases for Nursing Theory, provides detailed instructions to help you search bibliographic databases to find resources ABOUT a particular nursing theory as well as those that USE a nursing theory.
  2. Powerpoint Presentation: "Search Strategies for Finding the Best Evidence." Netscape version or Internet Explorer version.
  3. Handout for the above presentation : "Search Strategies for Finding the Best Evidence: Supplementary Resources, February 16, 2000" in PDF format. If you don't have the Adobe Reader, you will need to download it here.
  4. See also the Nursing and Allied Health Resources Section for other useful documents.

If you've exhausted these resources and still need help, one of the people listed below may be able to assist you.
