Nursing Club
Nurse club was created to expose midshipmen, MECEP students, and civilians to the world of naval medicine. Many nursing students who are currently in the ROTC program had little or no exposure to naval medicine before they entered NROTC. In an attempt to expose them to naval medicine, this club has worked to facilitate relationships with officers from Balboa Hospital, San Diego. Also, the nurse club works to provide learning experiences through visiting and touring medical facilities like the hospitals at Camp Pendleton, Miramar and Balboa. We focus on providing opportunities for all MIDN, civilians, and MECEP students to take tours of the medical units on ships like the USS Ronald Reagan, USS Boxer, and USNS Mercy. The best thing about nurse club is that we always have fun together, no matter what we’re experiencing!
Goals:
*Exposure to Naval Medicine.
*Facilitate relationships with Naval Officers (mentors) from nearby hospitals.
*Develop friendships with other nursing MIDN and MECEPS.
Future Tours schedule for FALL 2008 include tours of Balboa hospital and USNS MERCY.
