The Missions Café and Fitness Center is an 8,515 square foot wellness focused facility located in the heart of Missions housing. Supporting the mission and values of USD, the center promotes healthy lifestyle choices and social interaction to enhance the total student experience. This center was designed to expand opportunities to strengthen the minds, bodies and spirits of the campus community.

The Missions Fitness Center: The 3,740 square foot fitness center located on all three floors meets an increasing student need for additional exercise space and equipment on campus.

Yoga/Pilates Exercise Room: On the 1st floor, there is a 440 square foot multipurpose instructional classroom for mind-body activities such as Yoga, Pilates, meditation, prayer and silent retreat. During the academic year, students have the option to enroll in the group fitness program, which provides access to a plethora of classes for a nominal semester fee.

Cardio Equipment: Throughout the 2nd floor area are a variety of leading manufacturers' cardiovascular equipment including 10 treadmills, 11 elliptical machines, 4 stationary bikes and a Stairmaster. All equipment is equipped with Cardio Theater to tune into your desired television channel.

Strength Training: Circling the 3rd floor is a circuit of strength training equipment, 2 racks of free weights (ranging from 5 - 50 lbs), medicine balls and other balance tools.

The Missions Café is a full-service coffee/juice bar and sandwich shop featuring an assortment of healthy food choices and late night snack options including fresh organic foods such as sandwiches, salads, and a student favorite, frozen yogurt.

Group Exercise Classes: Fit and Active (previously known as "Drop-In Fitness") is a popular group fitness program offering access to a wide variety of classes for a nominal semester fee. Examples of classes offered include Yoga, Pilates, Kickboxing and Spin.

Personal Training: During the academic year, students and employees may schedule individual training sessions with one of our nationally certified, professional personal trainers. Our trainers are educated in specific areas including postural assessment, body composition manipulation, strength training, sports performance, cardiovascular endurance, and general nutritional counseling.


Training sessions are 50 minutes. Your initial training session is offered at the special rate of $25 and includes a comprehensive fitness assessment to determine the best direction for your exercise program.

Customized training programs benefit everyone, from the individual who is new to working-out to the athlete. Personal Training Fee Schedule:

  • Initial 50-minute session: $25 (one time only)
  • One 50-minute session: $40
  • Five 50-minute sessions: $175 ($35 per session)
  • Ten 50-minute sessions: $300 ($30 per session)

3.  Enter your USD username and password

4.  Enter your personal infomation

5.  Select "Program" & scroll down through "Program name" to select your desired personal training session(s)

6.  Select method of payment; be sure to get your final payment confirmation receipt

7.  Contact your desired trainer to schedule a session

Fitness Center Rules
All facility users must present a valid USD ID.
Bring a personal towel.
Profanity and/or aggressive behavior are prohibited.
Report any injuries or broken equipment to staff immediately.
All equipment must be used in the Missions Fitness Center exclusively.

Attire
You may wear a shirt without sleeves however;
NO sports bras or half-shirts that reveal the stomach area
NO flip-flops, sandals or open-toed shoes


Free weight areaDumbbell & Free Weight Area

Return dumbbells to their respective racks.
Wipe down benches after you use them.
Return medicine balls to their rack and all equipment to appropriate area.
Refrain from dropping weights and/or dumbbells on the floor.

Cardio Equipment
20 minute limit during peak hours
Wipe down display and handles after usage.
You may request that a staff member change the channel on one of the TVs.

Personal Items & Cleanliness
Clean up after yourself; sanitizing wipes and foam are located on all floors.
No food is permitted at any time; a water bottle with a lid is allowed
MFC staff is not responsible for lost/stolen items
