C. Hugh Friedman

    Professor Friedman served as notes editor of the Stanford Law Review and began his legal career as a California Deputy Attorney General. In 1958, he moved to San Diego to become in-house corporate counsel for a fast-growing corporate conglomerate and joined the fledgling USD School of Law. He later practiced business law with Friedman, Kahan, Dysart & Frasier, where he was senior partner, before joining the full-time faculty in 1977. He teaches and writes in the areas of corporations, business planning and securities law. Among his publications is the widely used, two-volume California Practice Guide: Corporations (The Rutter Group). He is past president of the San Diego County Bar Association, the Legal Aid Society of San Diego and the California State Board of Education. He was appointed by President Clinton to the White House Conference on Small Business Commission and currently serves as a member of the California Air Resources Board. He has been a visiting professor at Loyola and American Universities and has lectured in England, France, Japan, Hungary and Singapore. He frequently gives presentations on corporate governance issues to state and local bar associations and law firms, and testifies as a qualified expert in State and Federal Court litigation.
