Elisabeth Cannon
Lawyering Skills Instructor
Elisabeth “Lisa” Cannon has been teaching legal writing at USD since 2005. Previously, she worked at Latham & Watkins’ San Diego office, where she was a member of the ethics committee and an associate attorney practicing business litigation for five years. She graduated magna cum laude from the Georgetown University Law Center, where she twice received an Outstanding Public Service award and was elected to the Order of the Coif. While at Georgetown, she served on the board of the Equal Justice Foundation. Cannon received her A.B. from Harvard College, cum laude, in American History and Literature.
Cannon is a member of the Legal Writing Institute and has served as an assistant editor for the peer-edited Journal of the Legal Writing Institute. In 2008-2009, Lisa was Interim Director of Lawyering Skills I. In 2009-2010, Lisa served the first rotation as the Lawyering Skills I Department Chair. An avid violinist, she has performed in USD's Symphony and chamber music programs.
