Professor Morley teaches in the area of patent law.
Professional Experience
Morley is a partner with the law firm of Knobbe Martens Olsen & Bear. He specializes in patents and intellectual property protection for a diverse array of technologies including biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, nanotechnology, clean technology, medical devices and plants. He worked in development at Scios Inc. in the company’s former Mountain View, California location, where he was involved in the development and optimization of recombinant protein expression systems, protein purification and recovery methods, process scale-up and process computer automation.
Honors and Affiliations
Morley was a summer law clerk for the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee, where he worked on legislative projects including the Omnibus Patent Reform Act of 1997, the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, and the Database Piracy Act. In 1999, he served as a judicial extern to the Honorable D. Lowell Jensen, U.S. District Court, Northern District of California. Morley served as secretary of the board of the San Diego Intellectual Property Law Association from 2010 to 2011.
