Eudora for Windows

Note: These instructions are for Eudora for Windows. If you have Eudora for Macintosh, use the Mac OS documentation.

Help: If you have any questions or need assistance with Eudora, please contact the University’s Tech Support Center at 619-260-7900 or visit us in the Hahn University Center, 117 (adjacent to the Torero Grille), Monday-Thursday, 7:00 a.m. -7:00 p.m. and Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

1. Launch Eudora.

2. Set up an e-mail account

  1. Click TOOLS.
  2. Click OPTIONS.

3. In the Options window, you will see several icons on the left. Select GETTING STARTED. In this window, use the following settings:

  1. In the REAL NAME field, type your name the way you would like people to see it when they get email from you. For example, John Doe.
  2. In the RETURN ADDRESS field, enter your e-mail address. For example: johndoe@sandiego.edu
  3. In the MAIL SERVER (incoming) field, enter pop.sandiego.edu.
  4. In the LOGIN NAME field, enter your login name.  Your login name is the first part of your e-mail address.  For example, if your e-mail address is johndoe@sandiego.edu, then johndoe is your login name
  5. In the SMTP SERVER field, enter the smtps.sandiego.edu.

 

Getting Started

4. There should already be a check in the ALLOW AUTHENTICATION field. Leave the check there. If you do not see a check in the box, click on the box with your mouse until a check appears.

5. Click OK. This completes the basic setup. You should now be able to send and receive e-mail in Eudora.
