Services Offered
Information Technology Services is the umbrella organization which provides technology support services to the USD community. This page gives an overview of the teams within ITS and the services we offer as well as Web site links where more information can be found.
Desktop Support Services
Desktop Support Services is the unit that oversees the Tech Support Center (formerly the Help Desk), the technicians located in the various schools at USD, and the computer replacement program on campus.
If you need help with your desktop equipment or software, call the Tech Support Center (x7900) and they'll see that you're assigned a technician who can assist you.

The Tech Support Center is your first stop for getting assistance with computer hardware and software, telephone, email and network problems in campus offices, labs, and student residence halls.
For assistance with computer problems, dial x7900 on campus or 619-260-7900 from off campus.
If your question is hardware related, the Tech Support Center can help you directly with your equipment. If your particular issue cannot be solved over the phone, an appointment can be made for a technician to troubleshoot your office computer in person.
If your questions relate to supported software applications, the Tech Support Center will find the appropriate technician or user services consultant to assist you.
Students may visit the Tech Support Center in UC 117 to get a new MySanDiego e-mail account. Tech Support will make an appointment to go out and help students who are experiencing network, virus, or e-mail issues in the residence halls.
The Tech Support Center also provides basic troubleshooting for Windows and Macintosh computers, as well as assistance with e-mail, web browsing, operating systems, and software.
Academic Technology Services

ATS maintains the Computer Labs on campus. To reserve a computer lab for a class session, please call extension 4810 to see if your desired time is available or use our online reservation form. A confirmation for your requested time and date will then be e-mailed to you.You can also fill out and fax us a form found on our Useful Forms page.
To sign up for computer tutorials, please refer to the IT Training Web site or call extension 4810 where someone will be available to help you.
To obtain a new MySanDiego e-mail account, please visit the Tech Support Center in UC 117 or any of the computer labs on campus. E-mail accounts are activated one hour from the time they are issued.
Administrative Services
- Location: Maher Hall 151
- Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
This team supports the administrative functions of the university, including Human Resources, Payroll, Financial Aid, Student Records, Procurement, Accounting, and Development activities. Staff members in this unit are programmers and database administrators.
Instructional Technology Services

- Hours: M - F, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.; summer 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
To check out classroom equipment such as laptops, data projectors, overhead projectors and other multimedia equipment, please call x4567. You will need a valid USD identification card in order to check out equipment for a specified amount of time. Please check the Instructional Technology Services Web Site for more specific information on the types of equipment offered.
Also known as Media Services, Instructional Technology Services maintains multimedia equipment in classrooms around campus. If you encounter malfunctioning equipment in a classroom, please alert Media Services at extension 4567. Media Services also provides videotaping, scanning, printing, and digitization services for your classroom needs.
Network and System Operations

The Network and System Operations group is responsible for designing, implementing, monitoring, and managing the campus network infrastructure, the external Internet connection, and the various servers that support both internal and external clients of the services. Telecommunications

- Hours: M - F, 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Telecommunications also provides cable TV, data, and network connections for faculty, staff, and students who live on campus. Administrators can also seek assistance for pagers, cell phones, and calling cards.
