All persons who will have any contact with research participants must show proof of IRB training. This includes students serving as research assistants.
- An IRB training course certificate must be attached to the IRB application, unless the individual's certificate is already on file in the Provost's Office.
- USD will accept proof of any IRB training course taken in the United States (including the CITI course) within the past 5 years.
- If you need to take an IRB training course, USD shares a free online course with San Diego State University. To begin the course, go to:
http://www-rohan.sdsu.edu/~gra/login.php and click on the blue box on the left to register. You can also take an IRB training course at the NIH website http://phrp.nihtraining.com/users/login.php or through the CITI Website https://www.citiprogram.org/default.asp . - You will be issued a training certificate at the end of the course. Be sure to download and print a copy of the certificate for your records.
