Training

All persons must must show proof of IRB training. This includes persons who will not have contact with human subjects and students serving as research assistants.

  • An IRB training course certificate must be attached to the IRB application, unless the individual's certificate is already on file in the Provost's Office.
  • USD will accept proof of any IRB training course taken in the United States (including the CITI course) within the past 5 years.
  • If you need to take an IRB training course, you can take one online through the NIH website http://phrp.nihtraining.com/users/login.php or through the CITI website https://www.citiprogram.org/default.asp.  For instructions to setup your CITI account please use this handout.
  • You will be issued a training certificate at the end of either course. Be sure to download and print a copy of the certificate for your records.
