Institutional Review Board (IRB)

All persons who will have any contact with research participants must show proof of IRB training. This includes students serving as research assistants.
An IRB training course certificate must be attached to the IRB application, unless the individual's certificate is already on file in the Provost's Office.
USD will accept proof of any IRB training course taken in the United States (including the CITI course) within the past 5 years.
If you need to take an IRB training course, USD shares a free online course with San Diego State University. To begin the course, go to:
http://www-rohan.sdsu.edu/~gra/login.php and click on the blue box on the left to register. You can also take an IRB training course at the NIH website http://phrp.nihtraining.com/users/login.php or through the CITI Website https://www.citiprogram.org/default.asp .
You will be issued a training certificate at the end of the course. Be sure to download and print a copy of the certificate for your records.
