Dear Parents and Families,

Welcome to Greek Life at the University of San Diego! Your student has many opportunities for involvement at USD, and we're pleased that he or she is considering fraternity or sorority membership. By joining a Greek chapter, your student will be joining hundreds of other new members on our campus in search of leadership opportunities, community involvement, and life-long friendships. It is my firm belief that the challenges and rewards of college life can be enhanced through the fraternity or sorority experience. Simply put, Greek Life adds a dimension to one's college experience that is not found in other organizations.

Just over 800 students, approximately 20% of our undergraduate student population, are fraternity and sorority members at USD. Greek Life has a rich history on our campus and is one of our most enduring traditions. As a professional advisor, I have the opportunity to work with each of the fraternity and sorority chapters, as well as the two governing councils, on a daily basis. We also have three graduate staff advisors that work closely with our student leaders. It's our goal to strengthen the relationship between the Greek Community and the University and to ensure that the Greek experience is a positive one.

There are many myths about fraternity and sorority membership, and this website is designed to help you and your student better discern the realities. USD fraternity and sorority members hold high academic standards, volunteer regularly on campus and in the community, develop and strengthen leadership skills, create a support network, and develop long-lasting friendships.

We look forward to working with your student as a part of our fraternity and sorority community. Feel free to peruse this website for additional information about our programs. Please contact us with any questions, concerns, compliments or suggestions about your student's Greek experience at USD. We consider parents to be among our most significant partners in achieving a positive experience for our students.

Fraternity and sorority membership has been a very positive experience for thousands of students at USD and across the country, including myself! On behalf of the Greek Life Staff, we hope that your student finds the same to be true.

Sincerely,

Mandy Womack
