Prospective Students

Goals

This program(S-STEM) has the following goals:

• The program will support 12 talented undergraduate students with scholarships for three years until completion of their engineering degree.

• The program will increase the enrollment of ethnic minorities, women and first generation college students in USD Engineering but allow the scholarship to be provided to all transfer students meeting program requirements.

• The program will provide a learning environment for the S-STEM scholars that will maximize their retention and academic success.

• Faculty and peer mentoring will be accessible to all students in the cohort through the duration of the program.

• Peer tutoring will be accessible to all students in the cohort through the duration of the program.

• The program will ensure the scholars have the opportunity to learn about internships and other job openings.

• The program will result in a sustainable model for recruiting, retaining, and graduating underrepresented transfer students into engineering.

• The program will enable a pipeline of diverse and talented students who we will recruit, mentor, and place in internships prior to degree completion.

• The program will enable a pipeline of diverse and talented students who will graduate and be placed in either graduate programs or industry.
